The CW Adds Family Law to Its Scripted Acquisitions

The CW has made headlines this summer with the debut of several exciting shows, such as Jewel Staite-starring Family Law: an entertaining legal drama centered around an imperfect family of lawyers.

Susin Nielsen created this show, featuring Abby Bianchi – an attorney and recovering alcoholic who works at her estranged father’s law firm.

Jewel Staite

Jewel Staite is an award-nominated Canadian actress, best known for her roles as Kaylee Frye from Firefly and its spinoff film Serenity. In 1996 she debuted as Kaylee Frye. Since then she has appeared in over 60 television and movie projects such as Flash Forward, Higher Ground Stargate Atlantis CW The Killing Family Law where she currently stars as Abigail Bianchi.

Family Law follows Abigail Bianchi (Victor Garber), an inexperienced personal injury lawyer. After hitting rock bottom and being forced by her estranged father’s law firm to complete her probation period, Abby finds out about two half siblings she hasn’t met: Harry Svensson and Anna. Forced into practicing family law together, Abby forms relationships with them while also trying to organize her own life.

Victor Garber

Victor Garber is an actor known for his roles on Alias and Titanic as well as numerous TV series and movies including Legends of Tomorrow, Deception, Eli Stone and Glee – as well as being a frequent guest star. Additionally he has appeared in stage plays.

Family Law centers around Abigail Bianchi, an attorney trying to pick herself back up after hitting rock bottom. She must work at her estranged father’s family-law firm as part of her probation while staying sober and bonding with his half-brothers and half-sister whom she has yet to meet.

This show is a legal drama exploring the challenges families are experiencing today. It features a diverse group of characters dealing with various problems in their lives, and addresses emotional aspects related to divorce, custody disputes and child abuse. Furthermore, its cast includes both well-known actors as well as lesser-known ones.

Genelle Williams

Genelle Williams is a Canadian actress who has been acting since the early ’90s. She first made an impactful impactful statement through her role as Kaylee Frye on Firefly; since then she has also appeared regularly in several shows like Flash Forward, Higher Ground, Stargate: Atlantis, Blind Spot and Quantum Leap as Kaylee Frye.

At present, she can be seen starring as attorney Abigail Bianchi on the CW legal drama Family Law. Abigail is a recovering alcoholic struggling to balance personal and professional responsibilities.
